Professional Meeting – KPMG, Johnson Shute, Falco Sult, Spott Lucey & Wall

Our next professional meeting is Wednesday December 2, at 5:45pm with KPMG, Johnson Shute, Falco Sult, Spott Lucey and Wall. The meeting will be a panel discussion centered around the following question: ”What do you see as the area of accounting that is growing the most (within and outside of firms)?”

There will be a prepared list of questions used to guide the conversation with the professionals, however there will be plenty of time for student questions.

Dinner will start at 5:45 and the meeting will begin around 6. The details are listed below:

VITA Professional Meeting

We will be having presenters from United Way (both King County and Snohomish County) presenting about the VITA program, and then a live registration event immediately thereafter.

VITA is a great way to give back to the community, as well as, helps to build a strong resume (especially for those going into taxation).

*Laptops will be provided at the event for registration.

Dress Code:

  •  Please leave all jewelry at home. It may not be worn in the warehouse. Wedding rings and medical jewelry are okay.
    • Closed-toed shoes are required to volunteer with us. Volunteers without closed-toe shoes will not be able to participate.
    •  Shoulders, underarms, and midriffs must be completely covered. Tank tops are not permitted.
  •  The warehouse can be cold this time of year, and volunteers should dress in layers.

Shift Time: Orientation will begin promptly at 1pm and is required for all volunteers. Please arrive a few minutes early to get signed in.

  • Take Exit 152 (Orillia Rd/188th St)
  • Turn left onto Orillia from southbound
  • Follow the arterial road downhill into the Kent Valley
  • After about a mile, the arterial turns into 212th St
  • Continue straight on 212th St approximately 1.5 miles to 68th Ave S (West Valley Hwy)
  • Turn right on 68th Ave S (West Valley Hwy)
  • The warehouse is about ½ of a mile on your left

Alternate I-5 South Route

  • Merge onto I-405 North via Exit 154 A on the left (towards Renton)
  • Take WA-181 South/West Valley Hwy Exit (Exit 1) towards Tukwila
  • Make a right at the fork onto West Valley Hwy.
  • Go several miles on West Valley Hwy and the road becomes 68th Ave.
  • Look for and pass Boeing on your right and cross the intersection at S 212th St
  • The warehouse is about ½ of a mile on your left

From I-5 North

  • Take Exit 149A (WA 516 E/S Kent Des Moines Rd)
  • Turn right onto WA 516 E/S Kent Des Moines Rd
  • Turn left onto Military Rd S
  • Turn right onto Veterans Drive (formerly S 231st Way)
  • Continue onto S 228th Street
  • Turn left onto 68th Ave S
  • The warehouse is about ¼ of a mile on the right

From SR 167 North or South

  •  Take the exit for 212th St
  •  From southbound turn right on 212th, from northbound turn left
  •  Follow 212th St approximately 1.5 miles to 68th Ave S and turn left
  •  The warehouse is about ½ of a mile on your left

Ethics Conference

The University of Washington Business School is hosting the Ethics Conference on November 13th. The event will take place on the Bothell campus. Accounting Professionals will be in attendance to meet their Continuous Profession Education (CPE) requirement to maintain their CPA license. There will be opportunities to listen to the presenters during the sessions and will be a beneficial educational experience. The attire will be business professional meaning that a suit is a must. This is a great opportunity for students to meet some or all of their Beta Alpha Psi service hours complete.

10-16 volunteers:

– 6 volunteers for the morning shift (7-11am): providing directions, helping at the parking kiosk, registration, sign-ups, name tags, putting up sandwich boards where needed

– 4 volunteers for the midday shift (10:30am-2:30pm): Answering questions, basically just doing anything that is needed to make the event run smoothly

– 4 volunteers for the closing shift (2:30-5pm): checking people out, handing out certificates, taking down sandwich boards.

BAP is in need of volunteers primarily for the 7:00-11:00am and 10:30-2:30pm shifts. If you have conflicts with the morning and midday shift please let us know and we may have a spot or two on the closing shift.
