Leadership Duties

LIST OF UW BOTHELL BAP POSITIONS

President – 20 hours per week  (OFFICER)

  • Acts as the leader and representative of the entire organization.
  • Is one of the 3 member executive team with VP Professional, and VP Service.
  • Sees that all leaders perform with excellence in a timely fashion.
  • Makes sure that all leaders grow from their BAP experience.
  • Attends all BAP meetings, and
  • Alternates attendance at all BAP events with VP Professional and VP Service.
  • Meets with VPs and advisor once a week,
  • Meets with officers once every other week.
  • Attends meetings with department head and faculty as requested.
  • Attends National (August) and Regional meeting (April).
  • Organizes, coordinates and attends other activities as necessary.  Ensures that chapter reaches superior chapter.


VP Professional – 15 hours per week (OFFICER)

  • Overall responsibility for the Professional Development Program
  • Sees that all leaders perform with excellence in a timely fashion.
  • Makes sure that all leaders grow from their BAP experience.
  • Attends all BAP meetings
  • Alternates attendance at all BAP events with President and VP Service.
  • Meets with executive committee and advisor once a week,
  • Meets with officers once every other week.
  • Attends meetings with department head and faculty as requested.
  • Attends National (August) and Regional meeting (April).
  • Responsible for supervising 1/3 of officers and leaders.
  • Organizes, coordinates and attends other activities as necessary.


VP Service – 15 hours per week (OFFICER)

  • Overall responsibility for Community Service Program
  • Sees that all leaders perform with excellence in a timely fashion.
  • Makes sure that all leaders grow from their BAP experience.
  • Attends all BAP meetings
  • Alternates attendance at all BAP events with President and VP Service.
  • Meets with executive committee and advisor once a week,
  • Meets with officers once every other week.
  • Attends meetings with department head and faculty as requested.
  • Attends National (August) and Regional meeting (April).
  • Responsible for supervising 1/3 of officers and leaders.
  • Organizes, coordinates and attends other activities as necessary.


Treasurer – 10 hours per week (OFFICER):

  • Collects dues, contributions and funds.
  • Prepares budget and keeps track of budget expenditures.
  • Reconciles bank statement with Reporter.
  • Uses Quickbooks to maintain accurate financial statements accurate.
  • Writes reimbursement checks for documented expenses.
  • Ensures that money spent on activities are according to the budget limits.
  • Attends all BAP meetings.
  • Attends Officer’s meeting every other week.
  • Attends Regional meeting, and if funds allow, national meeting.
  • Organizes, coordinates and attends other activities as necessary.


Membership – 10 hours per week (Officer).

  • Recruits new members each quarter.
  • Arrives 30 minutes before each meeting.
  • Plans the candidate information session at the beginning of each quarter.
  • Coordinates sign-ins at every professional meeting, with Reporter.
  • Keeps a weekly record of member and candidate professional hours.
  • Answers e-mails with questions from members.
  • Deposits members’ dues in bank and gives Treasurer bank credit slips.
  • Attend all BAP professional meetings
  • Attends Officer’s meeting every other week.


Advertising Chair – 10 hours per week (Officer).

  • Advertises all BAP events via all electronic means possible, preparing flyers and posters, distributing flyers and posters, and arranging for and recruiting members to speak in classrooms.
  • Attends all BAP professional meetings
  • Attends officer meeting ever other week


VITA Co – Chair – There will be two chairs.  10 hours per week.

  • Helps members prepare over 600 tax returns for low income taxpayers.
  • Coordinates with Snohomish & King County United Way groups to set up, manage and supervise training and member participation in UWB Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
  • Attends all BAP professional meetings


Reporter – 5 hours per week.

  • Recruits new members each quarter.
  • Works closely with Membership Officer in finalizing membership list.
  • Updates membership info and manually enter new candidates on line.
  • Submits/updates chapter and member information to National.
  • Brings sign-in sheets and sign member in at every professional meeting.
  • Responds to e-mails regarding membership/hours.
  • Records service and professional hours and perform reconciliation.
  • Attends all BAP Professional meetings


Service Events Coordinators – 5 hours per week  As many as Coordinators as necessary

  • Service Coordinators will be assigned to chair one or more service events, depending on assistants’ interests and availability.
  • Works with VP Service to pick assignments and develop new projects.
  • Attends all Bap Professional Meetings


Webmaster – 5 hours per week

  • Updates website in a timely manner with news, announcements and upcoming events
  • Updates and maintains database in a timely manner
  • Administers the BAP mailing list including approving mailings
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings


Travel Coordinator – twice a year  15 hour projects

  • Facilitates and organizes travel, registration and reservations to regional (April) and National (August) meetings for members
  • Makes all reservations and registers all attendees
  • Ensure funding for these activities
  • Report to Officers meeting before each event


Best Practices & Competitions Coordinator – 10 hours per week

  • Reviews and keeps current national BAP Website
  • Ensures that all requirements are met for all competitions
  • Includes making sure teams are selected,
  • projects are completed,
  • abstracts are filed timely.
  • Ensures that teams practice well before regionals
  • Enters UWB in every competition available.
  • Meets with Advisor every other week
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings



Best Practice Competitors – 10 hours per week  (6-9 competitors)

  • Best Practice Competitors will pick one of the three National Best Practice projects to work on during the year.  This will require advertising to members, and getting members to participate.  After the project is complete competitors will prepare an abstract and compete at the regional competition
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings


Guest Speaker Coordinator – 10 hours per week, most in summer, fall and winter.

  • Coordinates with Executive committee
  • Contacts and coordinates speakers for 13 bi-weekly BAP meetings.
  • Introduces speaker at meeting, with a prepared biography
  • Writes thank you notes to speakers
  • Acquires token gifts for each speaker.
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings


Student Life Representative – 5 hours per week

  • Arranges all classrooms and applies for all possible funding and benefits available through student life.
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings


Junior Achievement/High School Symposium Coordinator – 5

  • Coordinates and attends junior achievement activities for UWB BAP members
  • Works with WSCPA to coordinate the High School Symposium on Financial Literacy in May
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings


Banquet Planner – winter & spring qtrs – 10 hours per week

  • Coordinates end of year banquet for all accounting grads with ½ the presentation focusing on BAP.
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings


Food Committee Chair – 6 hours per week

  • Plans, and delivers food at BAP meetings.  Will have 2 assistants.
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings



Alumni Coordinator – 5 hours per week

  • Will create and maintain a data base of all BAP and accounting alumni.
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings


Student Accounting Help Lab Coordinator – 10 hours per week

  • Creates, develops, oversees and coordinates Student Tutoring Lab
  • Finds Member volunteers to tutor Accounting students at UWB and Cascadia
  • Prepares schedule for volunteers
  • Attends all BAP Professional Meetings
