Involvement in service events is an integral part of active participation and membership in Beta Alpha Psi. The impact of the service we deliver to the community goes beyond supporting noble causes: the good we extend comes back full circle to reflect on the character of our chapter, Beta Alpha Psi, University of Washington Bothell and the accounting profession. Although a minimum of 12 service hours is needed to be inducted into BAP, we encourage you to participate in as many service events as you can. Keep in mind that there are awards for chapters that go above and beyond the call of duty.
Minimally, we expect all members and candidates to attend at least one service event a quarter. There will be two or three service opportunities available per quarter. Each service event will be a 2-6 hour commitment that will take place usually on Fridays or Saturdays.
Sign-up sheets will be available at BAP meetings. If you miss the sign-up sheet, please email Wendy Kwan (WendyKwan.firstname.lastname@example.org), and we will sign you up as space allows. We need at least 25% of our members and candidates participating in an event for it to be considered a BAP service event! Let’s help each other out and participate in Service Events!
Part of professionalism is reliability, so if you cannot attend an event you have already committed to, please remember to be responsible and contact a service committee member as soon as possible with a substitute member or candidate for your spot. (If we run into difficulties with attendance we may have to institute some form of negative reinforcement such as a “Bad Behavior Fund”, removal from candidacy, etc.)
Please approach members of the service committee with suggestions of causes you would like to see our chapter support, or other questions or concerns regarding service events.
