Position:  Revenue Auditor 1 (RA 1)

Primary Duties:

As a Revenue Auditor 1 you’ll learn how to audit based on best in class auditing standards, processes and techniques. You’ll work under pre-established guidelines with close supervision as you train. You’ll conduct detailed audits of small to mid-sized businesses either as part of a team or independently. You’ll evaluate business activities and accounting records to determine if taxpayers are complying with the applicable tax laws and are reporting their tax liability correctly. You’ll audit a variety of industries such as construction, professional services, medical services, real estate, food services, and retail sales. These audits are often conducted at the taxpayer’s place of business, so you’ll travel within the region on a regular basis.

 

Your success will look like:

  • Complete the New Auditor Training class within the first two months of hire.
  • Participate in training audits with lead auditors to conduct and write up findings in the first 6-9 months.
  • Begin independently auditing businesses after initial training, usually around the 6th month.
  • Continue to conduct team audits during your tenure in the audit division. This enhances your ability to conduct a broader range of audits at all levels of size and complexity.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor degree; with major study in accounting.

OR

Bachelor degree in business administration or closely allied field which includes 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of college-level accounting (may include credits from one (1) Business Law class).

OR

Bachelor or Graduate degree and is CPA Exam eligible.

*** Note: Applicants who are able to meet these qualifications by July 1, 2015, will also be considered.

 

Compensation $3,549-$3,819 per month (range 44), depending on qualifications. *Salary is reflective of appointment guidelines set for Department of Revenue.
